The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed Rep. Matt Cartwright of Pennsylvania, who is running to represent the state’s 8th Congressional District, applauding his work to conserve our fish and wildlife, keep our water clean, and protect public health.
“Matt Cartwright is a true champion for Pennsylvania’s remarkable natural resources from the Pocono Mountains to the Delaware River. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has been proud to support Rep. Cartwright since his very first primary election. He is a national leader on the issues that matter most to hunters and anglers. He also has been an unwavering champion on the bipartisan policies that help wildlife thrive, support clean air and water, and safeguard our parks and wildlife refuges,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “The voters in Pennsylvania’s new 8th district should send Rep. Cartwright back to Congress to keep fighting for our wildlife heritage.”
Among the highlights of Rep. Cartwright’s conservation work:
- Cartwright is a cosponsor of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, which would address America’s wildlife crisis by directing $1.3 billion of existing revenue from federal oil and gas leases towards state-led efforts to recover species at risk.
- Cartwright championed Delaware River Basin Conservation Act, an innovative program that will accelerate restoration of America’s first waterway
- Cartwright introduced the Safeguarding America’s Future and Environment (SAFE) Act to establish an integrated national approach to address the ongoing effects of climate change-worsened extreme weather.
- Cartwright introduced the Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act designed to help schools upgrade and retrofit with technologies that cut pollution and save money.
