The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed Sen. Jon Tester of Montana for re-election, citing Sen. Tester’s record of success conserving Montana’s wildlife, public lands, and public health.

“No member of Congress embodies America’s conservation values and the land ethic more than Jon Tester, a farmer from Big Sandy,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “At a time when our fish, wildlife, public lands and heritage face unprecedented, Sen. Tester’s bipartisan leadership has been critical to safeguarding Montana’s great outdoors, growing its outdoor recreation economy, and making sure our children and grandchildren have the same opportunities to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors that we do now. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to endorse Sen. Tester for another term.”

Among the highlights of Sen. Tester’s conservation work:

  • Tester has taken a stand to protect limits life-saving standards for mercury and other toxic air pollution from power plants, safeguarding public health and benefiting Montana’s $231 million fishing business.
  • He’s working to curb Chronic Wasting Disease, introducing a bill to reallocate $60 million in federal funds to fight the disease that kills white-tail and mule deer, elk, and moose.
  • Tester supported the fire funding fix in the 2018 omnibus appropriations bill.
  • He is the lead sponsor of the Outdoor Economy Act designed to increase access to public lands, help underserved communities to engage in outdoor recreation, and curb invasive species.
  • Tester has worked to streamline the permitting process for wind, solar, and geothermal energy development on areas of our public lands where it makes the most sense.
