WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 16, 2020) — The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell of Michigan for re-election, citing her impressive track record of championing wildlife conservation, clean drinking water, climate action, and the restoration of the Great Lakes.
“At a time when our water, wildlife and way of life face unprecedented challenges and we need climate solutions, Representative Debbie Dingell is the rare leader who not only rises to the occasion, but transcends it. Her vision, dedication and ability to translate both into leadership in Washington is extraordinary,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “Rep. Dingell has not only introduced the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act — the most significant wildlife-conservation legislation in a generation — but she also has worked across the aisle to secure for it a level of bipartisan support that is practically unheard of in this day and age. When the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act becomes law, it will be largely because of Rep. Dingell’s tireless commitment to finding common ground and safeguarding our wildlife and shared outdoor heritage for generations to come.
“We need more leaders like Rep. Dingell in Washington, and the people of Michigan’s 12th Congressional District are fortunate to have her as their voice in Washington. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to enthusiastically endorse her for re-election.”
Dingell has represented Michigan’s 12th Congressional District since 2015. She serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as well as the House Natural Resources Committee. From these positions she has led efforts to pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, worked to fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and to pass legislation to protect Americans from PFAS and other toxic chemicals.
Dingell is the former president of the GM Foundation and worked in the auto industry for more than three decades.
